JOB TITLE: Installation Technician
MANAGED BY: General Manager
RANGE: $11.00 - $16.00
BENEFITS: Paid vacation and PTO, Limited medical benefits
STATUS: (Full Time) Hourly – Weekly Pay

An Installation Technician installs, configures, maintains, tests, troubleshoots and repairs Internet service equipment, phone service equipment, and other customer premises equipment.  This individual may also assist on projects and other types of work.

A qualified candidate offers:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License insurable under company’s auto insurance policy
  • Basic understanding of construction standards
  • Basic understanding of computers and their operation
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment

A preferred candidate offers (in addition to basic qualifications):

  • Associate’s Degree in a Computer Science related discipline OR two (2) years specific field experience in the technical support of computers and peripheral hardware, desktop operating systems and application software.
  • Minimum of three (3) years construction or related discipline experience.


  1. Completes assigned/scheduled jobs and projects
  2. Assists other technicians during assigned/scheduled jobs and projects
  3. Installs, configures, maintains, tests, and troubleshoots Internet service equipment
  4. Installs, configures, maintains, tests and troubleshoots phone service equipment
  5. Installs, configures, maintains, tests, and troubleshoots other customer premises equipment
  6. Utilizes heavy equipment (trenchers, lifts) in order to install, maintain and recover equipment
  7. Travels using company transport to and from jobs and projects
  8. Provides phone and remote technical support
  9. Provides on-call support on assigned days
  10. Stocks and maintains company vehicles
  11. Cleans and maintains company equipment

Must be able to multi-task and handle stressful workloads.


Standing/climbing/crawling for long periods of time, frequent walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, or stretching is to be expected. Employee must be able to enter and work in confined spaces including crawlspaces and attics, in both natural and low light conditions for prolonged periods of time. Employee is expected to work in elevated environments including roofs, towers, lifts and trees. The nature of the work also involves manual dexterity to operate heavy equipment, computer equipment and hand tools.  An employee will need normal, or corrected to normal range of sight and hearing and will carry work related materials and equipment up to one-hundred (135) pounds. Employee must be able to climb up to at least eighty (80) foot structures.

The majority of work is performed outside in elevated and ground-level positions, though periods of indoor work will at times be required. Work is performed in all weather conditions. The employee’s work schedule may periodically need to be flexible and adjusted according to business needs. The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional, as well as be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Occasional overnight or local travel will be necessary to participate in projects or large jobs.
